Frequently asked questions

What age groups will find London particularly good to visit?

There really is something for everyone in London, for toddlers and younger children there are zoos, toy shops, Madam Tussauds, for teenagers Oxford Street offers shop 'til you drop facilities, young adults will be clubbing half the night, and for the rest there are art galleries, museums, sightseeing, parks, Thames cruises, and for everyone the London Eye is a must.

Is London safe for tourists?

Yes, it is very safe. The centre is very busy all day and evening and well into the early hours of the morning, so stick with the popular areas and you will be fine. The usual precautions should be taken about wandering off to deserted and unknown areas, particularly at night.

The London Underground transport system, known as The Tube, is well provided with security cameras and is busy all the time. There is an excellent bus service and the well known black cabs are everywhere.

I have special dietary requirements, will I find something to eat?

Don't worry, you'll eat all right, London has a truly international range of cafes and restaurants and hotels generally cater for the usual requirments, including vegetarian, vegan, kosher, everyone really.

What languages are spoken?

London has a very wide range of nationalities, both resident and visitors. English is the native language of course and most of the larger hotels, shops and attractions have people who are able to speak several languages.

If you are stuck, walk about the centre of London for a few minutes and you will probably hear someone speaking your language.
